It's tough for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a team that has won it all.

That it took as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowlers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's difficult for their batters to possess a record if not provided the chance.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting a chance to produce her newest gem.

Originally famous as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her bow and seven international trophies have come from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India momentarily interrupted the run of success.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Many contend the case for the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it has been a challenging time because it seemed I've had no rhythm completely," stated Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your fighting spirit take over and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

A single came off the opening delivery and after that the right-hander was on her way.

"An opportunity to take the field and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was out the team needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the belief to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, should it happen, we know we can succeed."

That comment will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this World Cup need to hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will triumph from any situation has become more firm - this success coming after success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a significant event.

So great is her will, she afterwards commented she wished she had played with the discomfort.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have delayed consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is expected to be her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as captain.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
